When patrolling, the display on our scanner should look like this:

• If the Letter A is neither on steady nor flashing on the top row of the display, press the button A (A) on the top right of scanner

• To prevent scanning of all channels and holding the scanner on the channel that pertains to us, press the Hold/Scan up button (B).  Then press the Hold/scroll up (B) or down button (C) to turn to Channel 5.

• Make sure the Lock light on the lock button (D) is lit.  If it is not, press the lock button (D), this will prevent the channel from being changed if you accidentally bump the big tuning knob.

• Increase the volume with knob (F).

• The Squelch knob (E) should be left in the middle of the range.
